last chance to see the British Ceramic Biennial…

Chimney at Spode FactoryOnly ten more days of the British Ceramic Biennial. I’ll be there next weekend, making pattern books, so come and say hallo if you are visiting!

China Pattern Book

New Chelsea Pattern book at Stoke City Archive

I visited Stoke last week, and after a fabulous visit to the City Archives, I spent the day at the Spode factory, five minutes from Stoke on Trent station, currently hosting the BCB. It’s pretty amazing: a huge, historic space, filled with contemporary and experimental ceramics and related installations, as well as a cafe and shop. The detritus of the old workings is strangely beautiful – although I’m cross more than nostalgic – the factory only closed in 2008!
