I’ve signed up for some great talks on the art of writing at the Association of Art Historians. The next one’s 26 Nov 2012 in their place near Farringdon. There’s such interesting people attending, too, a really varied mix of people wanting to talk accessibly and intelligibly about art (and objects, in my case). I’m hoping to be invited to talk to SOAS about porcelain from a practioner’s perspective on the basis of a meeting there…
‘The art of writing’ always reminds me of Elizabeth Bishop’s fabulous poem The Art of Losing. It’s a villanelle, like Dylan Thomas’ do not go gentle into that good night’. I love these elliptical connections…
“The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.”
Thanks for the plug Carys, See you soon! http://www.aah.org.uk/events/art-of-writing
